Part-time Switchboard Operator, Information Systems


Non-benefited position


Hours: Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Danvers Campus


GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:


Operate switchboards and connect callers to the appropriate people or resources as well as answer in-person questions from faculty, staff, students, and college guests.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



+ Answer telephone calls and greet customers in a polite and informative manner.


+ Evaluate and direct calls to the appropriate person, department or resource.


+ Greet, provide information to, and direct visitors to the appropriate individual(s) and/or department(s).


+ Be in a position to accept incoming calls at all times during business hours unless other temporary arrangements have been made.


+ Maintain a good working knowledge of departments and events by reading all relevant college bulletins and communications.


+ Place outbound and/or long distance phone calls for the college community when necessary and maintain a log of such telephone calls.


+ Maintain communication with supervisors to ensure that they are made aware of unusual circumstances or events relating to the operator's duties.


+ Monitor and report switchboard alarms to IS staff.


+ Forward and un-forward phone extensions when necessary.


+ Perform other related work as required.





Requirements:



+ Basic understanding of phone and switchboard systems


+ Proven customer service & interpersonal skills


+ Demonstrated excellent communication skills


+ Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies or manuals


+ Successful experience working with a culturally diverse population


+ Bi-lingual capabilities preferred but not required





Additional Information:


SALARY: $13.93 per hour, non-benefited position.


STARTING DATE: ASAP
