The RF Technology Group develops and demonstrates innovative RF technologies and integrated subsystems as solutions to emerging national security needs in radar, electronic warfare, signals intelligence (SIGINT), and special communications. To execute its RF research and development mission, the group develops and tests custom antennas, transmit and receive modules, multichannel wideband receiver-exciters, beamformers, active and passive RF circuits, wide bandgap materials and devices, low-phase-noise oscillators, high-speed software-defined radios, and high-throughput digital processing architectures. Novel RF solutions are developed at the device level up through the full RF subsystem level, with an emphasis on highly integrated, small-form-factor RF subsystems. The group collaboratively interacts with research groups across the Laboratory to take projects from initial concept stage, though simulation and analysis, to design and prototyping, and finally to field demonstration.

The RF Technology group seeks a full-time entry-level Electrical Engineer to aid in the development of next generation RF systems. Depending on background and interests, there are opportunities to design, develop, and test RF, microwave, and millimeter-wave circuits; and phased array antennas for radar, communications, and EW applications. This position includes opportunities in the development of RF systems, to work with a team of electrical and mechanical engineers, and for involvement in the design and testing of antennas, T/R modules, transceivers, frequency synthesizers, digital back-ends, software defined radios, and associated support equipment. The position will include design and layout of microwave Printed Circuit boards (PCBs) using advanced microwave CAD tools, component selection, bill of materials development, and evaluation of and reporting on completed PCB assemblies. In addition, the position will require the development and usage of MATLAB codes for test data collection, analysis, and reporting.


+ Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics or a related field.
