The partnership between Global Product and Technology is critical to this transformation and the definition, approval, and measurement of business value is core to its success. The Director, Business Value Realization will oversee the approval, assurance, and measurement of the creation of business value through programs within Pearson. Included in this role is the prioritization of program delivery across the product and technology teams from integrated planning through execution.

Role Overview and Purpose:

The Director, Business Value Realization is accountable for operating the "air traffic control" function of the VRO to accept business cases from an integrated strategic planning processes across Global Product & Technology, secure approval of the business cases across the Global Product, Technology, and Finance teams, provide assurance to the value creation over the lifecycle of the program, and ensure an objective audit of the business case is conducted to measure, or realize, the value created. The realization activity is critical to facilitate a continuously improving management system and digital culture in Pearson.

Director, Business Value Realization Impacts

+ Works with senior leaders to drive complex decisions based on business value planned and prioritisation of programs

+ Provides Information analysis to distill key themes for relevant stakeholders to aid with decision making

+ Secures approval of business cases with a deciding body of senior leaders

+ Ensures the quality of the business cases with the support of the deciding body of senior leaders, including finance

+ Leads and influences without authority based on data and a goal to optimize the pan-Pearson environment

+ High focus on communication and how change is planned, implemented and communicated

+ Manages compliance to the robust but lightweight governance model of the VRO

+ Works to best practice standards and single frameworks for measuring KPI's, reporting project and program delivery and tracking benefits

+ Source of truth on program health and status and value delivery

+ Success measured by being regarded as an honest broker with the sole purpose of helping Pearson meet its strategic objectives, initially scoped to product development.

Accountable for:

+ _Strategic Planning_ : Works closely with strategic planning teams in Product and Tech & Ops to create integrated process for strategic and execution planning purposes

+ Facilitation of joined up collaborative business cases and the articulation of value to be measured/tracked

+ Ensure that the program(s) has a comprehensive business case linked to capability development and delivers proposed benefits in line with plan

+ Facilitates the prioritization of the VRO Portfolio of programs

+ Creating value programs and assessing feasibility and achievability

+ _Value Planning, Assurance, and Realization_ : By reporting effective delivery against standards and metrics;

+ Value framework including analytics, KPIs, reporting and tracking

+ Working with senior leaders, drive complex decisions based on strategy & framework for appropriate escalation and visibility;

+ Enables efficient and effective escalations and course corrections to the VRO portfolio

+ Develop operating cadence required to achieve benefit realization decisions

+ Drives and independent assurance of the program status at major milestones and determining whether it is on track to deliver the intended value and solutioning to stay on track

+ _Ensure that the strategic objectives and work streams are clearly defined_

+ Establish processes to drive continued value realization after go-live date
